PREVENTION SERVICES
School-Based Events
NCADD-SFV Prevention works with a network of schools implementing evidence-based services and providing informational and fun materials. Along with our community partners, we provide services impacting youth and young adults that focus on addressing the contributing factors of availability and accessibility, and social norms and community conditions that contribute to alcohol and other drug use and misuse. Below are a few of the events that NCADD-SFV participates in partnership with local schools.
Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco, smoking, and other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign observed annually in October in the United States. Each year, on October 23-31, more than 80 million young people and adults show their commitment to a healthy, drug-free lifestyle by wearing or displaying the red ribbon.
National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week
NDAFW is an annual health observance that inspires dialogue about the science of drug use and addiction among youth. Provides opportunity to bring together scientists, students, educators, healthcare providers, and community partners to help advance the science and address youth drug and alcohol use in communities.
National Prevention Week
National Prevention Week is a national public education platform showcasing the work of communities and organizations dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of substance misuse prevention and positive mental health.
Alcohol Awareness Month
Every year in April, Alcohol Awareness Month is an opportunity to update your knowledge about alcohol use disorder (AUD) and the adverse impact of alcohol misuse on health and society as alcohol-related problems continue to take a heavy toll on individuals, families, and communities.
