PREVENTION SERVICES
Youth Programs
At NCADD-SFV, we are dedicated to empowering youth to make informed choices and lead healthy, fulfilling lives. Our comprehensive youth substance prevention programs are developed and designed to educate, engage, and inspire young people to advocate for their health, prevent substance use, and improve their resilience and well-being.
Jeopardy
Our NCADD-SFV Prevention team mentors the youth enrolled in the Van Nuys LAPD Jeopardy program to live a drug free lifestyle and learn to make positive choices. Jeopardy is a gang prevention and intervention program for youth and combines the strength of the community, neighborhood schools and the LAPD to affect positive, lifelong attitudinal changes in the youth.
Youth Group Leadership
Our youth group leadership program is currently in place with students from Valley Charter Middle School. The youth group programs’ services and activities involve youth and adults working collaboratively on youth leadership, youth development activities, skilled developmental activities and youth participating in social and recreational events that exclude substance use. Alternative activities such as these affect positive, engaging, and attitude changes in youth to divert from alcohol and other drugs.
Project Sticker Shock Campaign
Project Sticker Shock is a national campaign for community activism aimed at reducing underage drinking by limiting youth access to alcohol. Messaging is geared towards adults to prevent alcohol purchases for minors. Stickers are hand drawn by middle and high school students and voted on by Prevention staff.
