The Methamphetamine Program is specially designed for women, as a method of treatment in dealing with gender /drug specific issues related to using drugs and support the recovery process. The "Meth" Program participants are enrolled in the program for a minimum of twelve (12) weeks up to (24) weeks, depending on the individual's needs and progress. Participants attend three times weekly, 2 monthly individual sessions, receiving a variety of services from Education, Awareness, Focus Groups, Topic Discussions and Art Therapy. Participants are randomly tested alternating between Education and Discussion Groups.
Topics include but are not limited to:
- Emotional Feeling and connection to drugs use
- Shame and guilt
- Sobriety the process of recovery
- Special topics including HIV/AIDS and other STDs, tuberculosis, and smoking cessation
- Self esteem
- Relapse prevention
- Decision making
- Lifestyle of the addicted women
Each participant in the Meth Program is required to attend a minimum of 3 meetings of a 12- step program- AA, NA, CA.
The Methamphetamine Program is funded in part through a grant from County of Los Angeles Substance Abuse and Prevention.
